Here it is, you have a breakfast tray before you (your life) and on it there’s oatmeal, fresh fruit, OJ and everything else that represents a healthy, wholesome lifestyle.
Enter the contradictions.
Many things that ‘kill’ us are self-inflicted. We build up, we tear down, we clean up, we litter, we say we believe in ourselves, our self-talk suggests otherwise.
So what do we do? Is there a magic pill to take away the effects of bad eating habits, or a potion to make consistent negative thoughts dissipate? Will a workshop, retreat or the next great book be the vehicle that delivers us to ourselves?
Henry David Thoreau said, “Things do not change, we change” – But how? Rumi tells us “Everything in the Universe is within you. Ask all from yourself”. – And then what? “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself” Leo Tolstoy – Why not?
My questions are to suggest that we hear their advice and then dig a little deeper to uncover the true meaning for ourselves.
One consistent key is a three-letter word: YOU. Jesus said “the kingdom of heaven is within you”.
Is it true that what we seek lies within each of us? “No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.” Buddha
Hmmm, I welcome your responses!
