Does Thinking Make It So? – Part 2 of 4

This is part two of a four-part blog series that I will be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks. Each of the blogs will dive into what I consider to be the three approaches that are needed to manage change and grow – which are some of the greatest mountains that we face. And, as change is one of the few guarantees that we have in life, learning to effectively manage change is of the utmost importance for success. And to make decisions and take actions that work towards becoming your highest self and climbing to your highest peaks is of the utmost importance for achieving happiness and fulfilment.

So, lace up your boots. Here we go.

Without vision and all that is required to reach it, there is no journey or goal to move toward. I’m sure you’ve been told to fully visualize and identify what it is you want. It’s an important step on the path!

Focusing our minds and gaining clarity around what success looks like has always been one of the gold-star skills of achievement. We know the classic tools associated with strategies, planning and management. Yet, many of us have goals left unachieved, and this may indicate we need to look for other tools, solutions, or make other choices.

Working with clients in corporate, government, nonprofit and legal worlds has taught us that, the personal and professional challenges and hurdles should be approached in a very similar way. As we shared in our introductory blog, individuals are essentially propelled forward, or backwards, by three major approaches to any mountain you climb — we call them Head, Heart and Hands. If any one of these is out of alignment, not in sync or incoherent, then varying degrees of chaos or failure to meet performance and well-being goals will most likely follow until the necessary changes are identified and made. This has impact in the workplace and at home.

The Head: thinking, logical, planning approach is a great start.

The concept of a positive or growth mindset has been a significant influence for many years.

But of course, the Head can harbor thoughts of doubts and fears – these can also be “set” in a person’s mind.

Our team proposes that our term, MindOpen™ encompasses what is needed to transform the way we learn, lead, and live within our personal and professional lives. We use it to describe your mind’s ability to listen to and align with your heart’s truest desires, taking you beyond fear, non-supportive thoughts, and limited perceptions.

In the follow-up video, you will get some practical tips on how to remain MindOpen in the face of change.
