The Road to Your Goals

My husband happens to be a person who’s always carved out what he wants … and an ideal weight and fitness is one of his personal goals. He doesn’t enjoy the gym, it’s not his idea of having fun. What he does focus on is the answer to the question “What do you really want?”

Regardless of where he is and what the fitness road looks like; he makes an almost daily commitment to walk down it because it brings about the outcomes he wants.

Consistently doing the right thing is not an easy, pretty road to navigate. And it takes discipline – which Bob Proctor defined as the ability to give yourself a command and then follow it!

It can be lonely out there. We don’t always get the support we need, and often, someone close is trying to let you off the hook. They tell you all the reasons you don’t need to stay the course.

However, we can all point to that other person, also usually someone close, who stands out in our minds as a person who has achieved the revered description of being a disciplined, goal achiever.

Often, this person determined at a very young age who she wanted to be or what he wanted to have.  And when they do achieve it, you’ll hear others marvel at how lucky they were – it just seemed to happen …

Rarely do you hear about the road they walked to get there.

Of course, you’ve known these kinds of people and heard these kinds of stories. And although you may have told yourself that someone else’s focus and consistency is not something you’re prepared to emulate, at the end of the day, it all comes down to one answer.

In my decades of studying the art and science of achieving goals and the steps that help one reach whatever the desired outcomes are; the starting question has always been the same.

So now I leave you with that single question the one that promises to jumpstart your efforts:

What do YOU REALLY want?

Figure it out.

Act accordingly.
