Taking A Stand

Falling into the warm and waiting arms of mediocrity may be more tempting than taking a stand.

I searched for the perfect quote to highlight this blog. I found it. Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone – Herbs, Health, Happiness.

In the workplace, easier said than done. At home, good luck. And among your friends, don’t even try it. Okay, I don’t mean that. But it does demonstrate just how much courage is required to take a stand.

Let’s be real and dig into the uncomfortable truth. Beneath inaudible breaths, someone may be saying “who does she think she is?” or “why does he always have to be different?”

Consider these thoughts from my favorite coach, our Natural World. She says: “Every tree in the forest. Every fish in the sea, and every living creature on the Serengeti plains, takes its own stand in the world. How often do you?”

In reality, your actions may not always be congruent with the stand you take. Your stand may be less important than disturbing the peace at home, or it may be worth keeping to yourself to save someone else’s heartache.

Contradictory?

I don’t think so. Challenging yes, but in life we learn to cope with the dichotomies, imbalances and uncertainties before us.

As we move farther into the holiday season, and a brand-new year approaches, consider this: It’s important for you to remember what you believe in and to stand up for what matters most – even if you have to stand alone.

Weigh the balance then choose your actions,
