Yesterday my earth son, William, sent me this adorable picture of my grandson, Theo.
Although I couldn’t see the expression of wonderment and curiosity on his face, just look at how his body tells the story.
He has begun what we hope will be a never-ending joy for exploring new worlds. Everything is an adventure. He wants to literally eat the earth he walks on; taste all the snowflakes his little mouth can hold; and, experience all that unfolds before his eyes.
But, as we get older, something happens along the way. Where is our sense of discovery? How do we lose our awe and love for life’s adventures?
Sorrow, loss, disappointment and fear can slowly erode our drive and enthusiasm to walk through new doorways, forge new paths – and yes – even stare down the scary mouth of fear and danger itself.
The good news is that we have the capacity and privilege to choose — each moment is an opportunity to feel and respond differently.
It’s a new season. We’re half-way through the year:
· Still time to shift and change direction…
· Still time to dream and plan for wealth in all its many forms…
· Still time to imagine new stories…
I am grateful for Theo, Ason, EJ, Kai, Caleb, Nia, Samira and all the children in your life too who remind us to discover and rediscover the world before us. They remind us to see the world anew …
