Resilience is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge, or adversity (HeartMath® Institute).
In today’s world, these words sound like a magical gift. The good news is that they are attainable.
In recent years, more and more of our mainstream thought leadership speak the language of personal growth with more depth, and in far greater detail. In many ways, it comes as a sigh of relief.
A few days ago, I completed my training as a Certified HearthMath® Trainer. HeartMath® – some of you may have heard of them, others will be wondering what I’m talking about.
Well, I was introduced to their cutting edge, scientifically based research over 20 years ago and I’ve been fascinated (and watching their progress) ever since.
What I’m most grateful for are the practices that stand behind these words: Heart-Brain Coherence and Resilience.
Let me put into a nutshell why I believe these matter so much… to each and every one of us. And I can explain it by using the HeartMath® definition of resilience I put at the top: Resilience is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge, or adversity.
It’s a brilliant and inclusive definition, and I wanted you to read it twice – it is what you wish for yourself; it is what we all want:
And – You can learn to build your resilience capacity and sustain your energy.
If the majority of people understood what truly is possible in their everyday lives and performance, then the lines of people eagerly waiting to attain these gifts for their human minds, emotions, bodies, and spirits would be as long as those to purchase the latest iPhone!
Personal growth has been a life-long journey for which I am immensely grateful. It also goes hand in hand with service. And I can’t think of a better way to spend my time.
Focus, expand and count your blessings!
