Choosing to Sloooow It Down!

We hit a nerve – the exact same nerve for many who heard the words I coined to represent what most of us aren’t taught to do – Do Unto You First!

Last week, Love Is A Mountain Retreats gathered together two dynamic groups of women to unravel their ideas, beliefs and thoughts about how we live our lives. We experienced two powerful sessions
that exposed what wasn’t working and why we needed to replace it with self-empowering systems that do work.

Too often, we call the world we live in a “rat race” because we fail to make consistent choices to ensure we “Thrive” – the title of Arianna Huffington’s latest book – in a culture that seems to reward us for moving faster and faster. Because we don’t pause, go within and listen to our own lives, we are often forced to a screeching halt by life circumstances that make … us … stop. Huffington states, “We are finding it harder and harder to unplug and renew ourselves.”

Some of you might believe these words sound a little selfish or even sacrilegious – especially as we enter what my friend Valerie called the “extra do for others season.” However, we are slowly depleting – let me rephrase that – rapidly depleting the very fabric of our physical and emotional being when we don’t honor and seek balance and harmony within ourselves.

There is another way.

The quality of the life we are living depends on us finding that way. Seek and gather around you a like-spirited community of individuals who are committed to uncovering the layers that keep them from themselves. Then, replacing what isn’t working with self-supporting practices and habits that inspire
us to breathe new breath into what really matters in our lives.

Breathe … and slow down …
